Chartered Accountant - Revenue

Based in Nottingham.

Overview of Role:

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Revenue section of an Accounting and Control team, within a complex, fast paced and exciting Region/Team.

The team consists of 27 people and is spread across eight countries, with the team members working closely with local FDs, BPs and FP&A teams, local and central Controllers and with the Shared Services Centre.

Key Responsibilities/Outputs:

  • Ensure a strong and effective internal control and governance framework is in place in which financial data is complete, accurate and all transactions are consistent with accounting policies and IFRS / local reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements in the local market and ensure compliance with all Group Accounting standards.
  • Provide cover for all revenue activities (recognition, accrued and deferred balances, bad debt provisioning) during month end in any necessary EMEA markets.
  • Assist with the central review of market submissions of IFRS15 dual running adjustments prior to Group submission.
  • Support any markets required in preparation for full IFRS15 implementation from 1 April 2018.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency across all aspects of the financial processes and standardisation across all revenue activities.
  • Understand business performance and forecast operating cash flows in relation to EMEA markets revenue base.
  • Advise on complex sales contracts and the revenue recognition of such contracts under both current accounting standards and IFRS15.
  • Assist with other ad hoc requests from your manager

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Essential

  • 3-4 years accounting experience
  • Chartered Accountant qualification
  • Ability to influence stakeholders
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently, with the skill to adapt and drive change where necessary
  • Problem solving skills
  • Experience working with IFRS would be highly advantageous

Preferred Background

  • Experience in a global, matrix organisation
  • Knowledge of systems such as Oracle, Hyperion and OBIEE
  • Strong Excel skills is a bonus but not essential
  • Experience working with big 4 audit firms
  • Experience working in a multinational company
