This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Shift Manager to join our passionate and highly motivated Barrow Plant at British Gypsum.
This exciting role will see you provide leadership and direction to the shift teams, driving safety standards and behaviors whilst achieving optimum production performance across all areas of the manufacturing plant to meet business KPIs.
What will you be doing in the role?
In the role as Shift Manager you will;
Have an absolute commitment to your own safety and that of others, ensuring full compliance with standards and procedures as well as continuously improving the safety culture at the site.
Develop a ‘behavioral safety’ culture amongst the shift teams, targeting zero injuries.
Drive operational performance to achieve annual production departmental and Plant targets/objectives.
Develop a culture of engagement, commitment and flexibility within the plant, coaching and developing the production team.
Have an understanding of the business demand process, and ensure full schedule adherence across all production areas, understanding plant capability.
Drive World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology through the shift, developing team involvement in projects and coaching/developing wider use of World Class Manufacturing tools and techniques at operative level.
Have a commitment to learn and develop yourself.

For the Shift Manager specifically it is important that you have:
An excellent understanding of managing operational Health and Safety.
Experience in leading and managing production teams within a unionised manufacturing environment and driving continuous improvement.
A safety qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH) is desirable.
Leadership style that will be one of coaching and facilitating with an ability to gain commitment.
A results focused and driven mind set, thriving in a continually changing environment.
A passion and determination to make a real and lasting difference.
Experience in driving continuous improvement, ideally in a WCM/lean environment or Autonomous Maintenance would be advantageous.
A high degree of numeracy and analytical skills.
The ability to maintain high standards of work while following identified standards and procedures.
Good computer skills (Word and Excel would be desirable).
