Our client specialises in designing and installing turn-key material handling systems for clients across the world, due to continued growth they are looking for a Controls Engineer to join their team in Worcestershire Design Engineer - Controls The Role: Reporting to the Design Manager; to lead the Control Systems Design function with active technical involvement and responsibility for managing the efficient throughput of design work to achieve time, cost and quality objectives. Delivering a comprehensive design service on customer projects, providing technical support within the company, whilst ensuring professional skills are continually developed to meet the changing needs of our customers, the company and the markets it serves. Objectives Shall provide & manage a complete design service from project conception to completion Shall ensure all work is carried out in line with applicable company, statutory & regulatory requirements Shall ensure systems are designed as per the requirements of EN15095 or country specific standard(s) Shall actively lead &/or support new product improvement programs both electrically and mechanically, ensuring best practice and seamless introduction Shall keep aware of what is happening outside the company in terms of our competitors and technology advance Shall assist the Managing Director in managing the business by effective communication of the companies goals and aims with all staff Shall demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system Shall ensure that the risks & opportunities that can effect conformity of products and services and the ability to enhance customer satisfaction are determined & addressed Duties to include: Creation and maintenance of project drawings, BOM's, specifications and component drawings Compilation of PLC software & hardware configuration Production of installation instructions Compilation of CE compliant maintenance manuals Interaction with internal departments and external personnel at all levels including customers, consultants, project managers, sub-contractors, suppliers & manufacturers Occasional site visits both within the UK and overseas General design office tasks Support Group Technical programs Provide emergency breakdown diagnosis support to After Sales, Installations Manager and directly with customers Lead &/or assist as necessary with the final commissioning of major projects Lead work required to ensure companies Control Systems meet country specific requirements Key Attributes Qualified to a minimum of HNC level in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Good computer skills including Microsoft Office ACAD proficient Flexibility, commitment, enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure Full clean UK driving licence High personal standards with the ability & desire to produce accurate work within defined timescales The ability to stand back from a situation and ensure that the objective is met Experience in a design position with exposure to machine control logic. Programming of Siemens S7-300 controllers & Step 7 software & Omron CJ1 & 2 PLC's & CX Programmer Experience of ASI & Devicenet fieldbus systems Experience of Networking systems & technology Advantageous but not essential: Experience in a design position within the Materials Handling & Storage industry, or machine control environment and/or CAD techniques Sage200 experience Omron CX Programmer experience Please note, if your application is suitable, one of our consultants will call you within 5 working days.
