We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with good Nuclear industry experience and the ability to design from first principles, for a 12 months++ contract in the Preston area. The pay rate is negotiable depending on experience. Working as the successful Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have good experience of working based on-site, including site surveys and the mark-up and drawing-up of drawings using 2D AutoCAD. Design modifications to existing plant and development of designs from concept through to final production hand over. You will ideally be Chartered, or working towards. The contract will also require: *Comprehensive knowledge and experience of design standards and regulations. *Maintaining standards of quality and safety whilst meeting programme targets. *Reviewing, checking and approving designs. *Generation of equipment specifications, tender initiation and assessment. *Detail design, commissioning documentation and hand-over documentation. *Engineering management of supporting personnel working as part of the design team (e.g. Designers, Draughtspeople). *Oversight (safety, quality and scope) management of designs placed with external design contractors. *Experience working in a highly regulated environment. *Experience of working within multidiscipline teams engaged in the design and modification of Chemical process plants. *Chemical plant experience in "high hazard" environments a requirement, e.g. COMAH Upper Tier facilities. *Ideally candidates will be degree qualified, chartered with chemical plant and associated services experience. *SC security clearance would be an advantage, however this is NOT essential.
