Manufacturing Engineer £Salary negotiable plus bonus and benefits Our client is based in the St Ives, Huntingdon area of Cambridgeshire. They are a dynamic, forward thinking and progressive company which looks after their staff and continues to support them in new ideas. The company have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to be responsible for optimising the performance of the manufacturing operation through the delivery of quality, delivery and productivity Improvements, using continuous improvement and lean techniques. Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer •Drive process and component quality improvements to improve FTPR (First Time Pass Rate), OBQ (Out of Box Quality) Warranty PPM (Parts Per Million). •Assessment of components and processes to identify causes of failure and feedback into Engineering, Manufacturing and to Suppliers •Support change initiatives in manufacturing. •Generate reports on internal cell performance. •Drive process improvements internally. •Measure, analyse and improve the efficiency and yield of current manufacturing processes. •Liaise with suppliers of both Process Equipment and Direct Material. •Support NPI projects. •Lead Manufacturing Engineering projects as required. •Support improvements of internal process yield and external quality PPM by the redesign and implementation of tooling, jigs, fixtures and test equipment. •Drive Lean Manufacturing principles using the Kaizen toolset. •Lead, mentor and coach Engineering, Manufacturing and Production Teams in modern continuous improvement techniques. •Use all data gathered to establish optimum capability of current machinery and to justify any capital expenditure required. •Identify, install and commission new plant and equipment to meet the businesses changing product and process needs. The Skills and Knowledge required for the Manufacturing Engineer are as follows •Understanding of lean manufacturing principles •Able to analyse and make decisions based on data •Problem solving and hand on approach •Able to communicate at all levels of the business •Able to drive and support change •Ability to understand / analyse electronic / mechanical systems •3+ years in manufacturing / operations / engineering role •Relevant experience within an electro-mechanical assembly environment The Manufacturing Engineer will ideally have a Bachelors / Master's Degree in Engineering discipline.
