Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Department: Engineering Report to: Senior Manufacturing Engineer The Company Our client was founded in 1988 and was one of the first suppliers of sub-contract laser cut components in the UK. They have grown consistently and are one of the leading companies in the Industry The company are a key supplier to some of the UK's biggest manufacturers of metal products, providing engineering and manufacturing solutions to customers in industries such as Aerospace, Automotive, Rail & general engineering Job Purpose Assist the Engineering team in ensuring all products released for manufacture have the required information, and are engineered correctly, to minimise internal and external rejects and cost. Main Responsibilities (in no specific order of importance) • Liaise with internal and external customers to ensure all information is available and communicated. • Review customer drawings in advance of release to the shop floor to ensure quality, cost effective manufacture. • Play an active role in a lean information flow from sales, through engineering, to production, and the clear communication of requirements. • Ensure revised drawings are controlled diligently and efficiently at all levels of the business. • Understand quality requirements for our customers if different from internal quality standards. • Maintain a right-first-time culture to sustain a minimum number of re-cuts and NCR’s. • Use Engineering expertise to ensure parts are manufactured to internal quality standards. • Complete off-line CNC programming for press brake, panel bending and CNC operations. • Assist in problem solving and root cause analysis across all departments. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to work flexibly as required by the Company. Decision Making • Work between departments, compile and provide information as required. • Actively report to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Targets and Key Performance Indicators • Maintain 98% OTIF delivery to customers. • 20% reduction for all quality issues attributed to Engineering. Experience • Experience of the steel processing industry. • Ability to read and work from detailed engineering drawings. • Experience of template, jig and fixture design. • Computer literate, with knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office (including Project), MRP systems and nesting software’s. • Excellent communication skills at all levels of business, including the ability to liaise closely with customers. • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to multi-task and handle a range of different tasks and projects at once. • Experience of 2D and 3D CAD systems. • Knowledge of all welding techniques, across a range of materials. • Experience of 5S and lean manufacturing is desirable. • Experience of Salvagnini and press brake programming, along with CNC machining is desirable.
