Senior Software Engineer

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Software Engineer to join an existing established team of Engineers at our site in New Malden, Broad Oak or Frimley.

As a Senior Software Engineer, You will assist, design, develop and support Naval Command Systems, developing the systems that are deployed in the royal Navy's fleet of Ships and Submarine, used to support the crew policing the world's oceans, whether delivering humanitarian aid or in combat.

This role will also provide you with the opportunity to define a career path with a wealth of options, from offshore patrol vessels through to Type 26, the projects you'll be involved in will set new standards, and form the backbone of the Royal Navy for decades to come.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Software Engineer will involve:

Designing software to ensure that the overall system will behave according to its requirements

Writing software according to coding standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and identifying solutions

Writing software test schedules and using them to test systems

Documenting appropriate information, so that others can understand the software and the systems

Contributing to process improvement within the team to ensure that the team always looks to improve how it works

Liaising with other team members, teams and customers to ensure key information is understood

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Software Engineer:

Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment

Software Design

Coding standards

Programming: ADA, C++, C#, .net framework

Scripting: VB Script, PowerShell, Batch Job

Software Integration & testing

Configuration Management

Windows Active Directory and Domain knowledge



What we're looking for in you:

We are looking for an experience engineer who can hit the ground running.
You will have experience working in a multi-disciplined engineering environment and be able to display flexibility in response to changes in tasking and priorities.

Salary: £44,000

Location: New Malden, Broad Oak or Frimley
