Housing Association - Rent Arrears and Welfare Benefits Officer
Based in Hertfordshire, this role is working for a Housing Association as an Income Protection Controller. The salary for this role is £27,000 - £29,000 and your responsibilities in this role will include: Identify, monitor and be responsible for arrears and other tenancy related debts Liaise with the Customer Team to reduce the current and former debt and prevent debt for new customers Take appropriate action to prevent arrears escalating by serving notices, applying for possession, preparing paperwork and presenting cases at court; Monitor and take appropriate action for payment defaults following legal action Maintain debt recovery records and ensure that action taken and contact with tenants is kept up to date Offer advice on budget planning and welfare benefits and in more complex cases make referrals where appropriate Liaise with Housing Benefit regarding outstanding claims and adjustments on individual arrears cases To liaise with customers to set up and where necessary adjust direct debits in response to information received from customers and Housing Benefit. Reconcile payments and adjustments working with the Finance Team on changes made to customer accounts Complete manual postings to rent accounts accurately Assist with the administration of the annual rent changes Achieve agreed income recovery targets set for tenancy arrears, rent collection and former tenancy arrears and write-offs.
