Field Service Engineer - Diesel Engines Territory: Cheshire region and surrounding areas Ideal Location: Crewe, Stafford, Stockport, Warrington Salary: c28k-35k basic (dependent on experience) + overtime, van and benefits Our client are looking for an experienced, mechanically skilled, diesel engine field service engineer. Job Purpose Summary: The servicing and support of the Company's engine range so as to maintain the company reputation for consistency of performance and reliability. This work will include but not be limited to accurate fault diagnosis, trouble-shooting, field rectification and preventative maintenance. Key Responsibilities and Accountablities (Key Duties): ? Regular maintenance work and breakdown repairs - primarily on customer sites and occasionally in the company service workshop following the procedures outlined in Company operating manuals and workshop job cards. ? Accurate fault diagnosis of diesel engines, following recognised and published procedures and determination of cost effective and practical repair solutions ? Investigation of warranty and where warranty is not applicable, obtaining customer orders before proceeding to carry out the repair. ? Producing written reports on engine failures. Essential Skills & Experience Required Qualifications: Qualifications that demonstrate an interest in Mechanical Engineering e.g. O Level Engineering, City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering, Btec Mechanical Engineering. Attainments: Vocational assessments or vocational training in Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge & Experience Required: - Basic to Sound Mechanical fault finding and simple repair skills of diesel engines. - Strip down, repair and fault finding of one or more of the following diesel engines is required; Cummins, Perkins, John Deere, Deutz, Volvo Penta, Yanmar - Experience of modern diagnostics of diesel engines as well as emissions testing. - Field service experience is highly desirable as this role requires extensive travel throughout the designated territory Attributes ? The person must be able to take a flexible approach to the role both in terms of working hours and travel. ? The role requires an individual that is assertive. ? Be able to talk to customer representatives and inter-company representatives at all levels. ? Candidates must hold a full driving license.
