Job Title: Development Engineer Job Location: Warwick, West Midlands, UK Job Salary: £35k-£45k per annum (dependent upon experience) What to expect as the Development Engineer The sleek form you see with our vehicles is only possible with expertise and knowledge of the Tooling and Pressed Parts Group (T&PPG) who are responsible for all sheet metal tooling programs, facilities and technologies within the company. This includes managing the development, manufacture and successful launch of tooling and equipment into nominated press facilities as well as providing the foundation for our client's drive towards best in class Body in White (BIW) quality and cost performance. As a Virtual Manufacturing Engineer, you'll work with within the Technology & Innovation team of the Business Office. In this role, your primary focus is the development and implementation of an improved data management system, which is needed to support the ambitious growth of the Tooling and Pressed Parts Group. Alongside this, you'll work on the group's 'Smart, Connected Plant' strategy, delivering projects in the areas of VR, AR & AI. You'll work closely with T&PPG Functional Leaders and internal stakeholders to develop new and innovative departmental data management and change control systems which can be rolled out to control the new systems across all T&PPG sites, with associated data policies, standards and best practices. You'll investigate and explore novel ways of using these structured data sets to demonstrate useful business insights and assist with the development of new business systems. With this you'll help define quality control standards, and work with the wider business to find common solutions to functional issues. You'll work closely with other areas of the Manufacturing community, both within the company & externally to identify emerging information technologies which may have a positive impact for the T&PPG. What you'll need as the Development Engineer You'll be educated to degree level in Engineering, Computer Science or a similar discipline, ideally having an understanding of pressed part operations or a similar industrial processes with experience in developing data management solutions. You should have a good understanding of upcoming technologies in an industrial setting, along with a working knowledge of Industry v4.0 challenges and opportunities and how their application can make a positive impact. You'll need good effective communication and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas with the tenacity, drive and perseverance to deliver operational plans in a complex, highly demanding environment.
