Job Title: CAD Technician Sheet Metal Salary: Up to £26000 pa Location: Commutable from Dudley, Smethwick, West Bromwich, Birmingham The Role: Responsible for managing all designs, drawings and projects to a high standard and in accordance with the requirements of the business, customer and Company Quality Procedures. To produce the highest quality designs and developments to meet customer specifications whilst optimizing the method of manufacture, using development techniques, complete with product and manufacturing drawings to a high standard with all relevant tolerances and identifications. Responsibilities: • To be directly involved and lead projects that require design assistance or improving. • To assist in determining the approach to manufacturing products efficiently and to a high quality standards. • Design prototypes and develop products as required across a range of machines. • Design to meet costs, timing, safety, environmental and quality requirements. • Facilitate drawings in a multitude of formats; Flat pattern DXF's for punching, bending and folded drawings, laser step files, full assembly and packing specification drawings. • Produce all drawings accurately and on a quick turnaround where required. • Efficiently manage designs and project files in accordance Use of CAD & CAM systems appropriate to area of work. • Produce the highest quality designs and developments to exact customer specifications whilst optimising the method of manufacture, using development techniques. complete with product and manufacturing drawings to a high standard including where appropriate all relevant tolerances and identifications • Inspect products with correct measurement equipment appropriate to the task and to drawings issued. • To produce models, designs and drawings that will be used on a multitude of sheet metal machines. These include flat patterns for punching, bending drawings for press brakes, 2D and 3D drawings for laser. Assembly drawings and packing specifications on assembly & finishing. Candidate requirements: • Engineering qualifications up to HNC level • A minimum experience of 2 years in sheet metal design • A good knowledge of sheet metal products • Technical input • Knowledge of manufacturing • Design for manufacturing approach • Designing Use of 2D and 3D design Software (AutoCAD, Inventor) • Research skills • Able to capture and specify design requirements • Project management • Knowledge of CNC machines, programming, Fixtures, methods of manufacture • A good knowledge of sheet metal products • A good knowledge of design & CADCAM software • PC skills, including project management software • An understanding of Lean Manufacturing • Engineering qualifications up to HNC level To Apply: Please contact Adrian Sharpe at Real Time Consulting either by telephone: (Apply online only) or email: (url removed) Real Time Consulting are acting as an employment business/agency in relation to this vacancy
