My client is looking to recruit a Junior Buyer within their Softlines division for their growing team.

As a Junior Buyer you will be responsible for assisting the Buyer in all aspects of the buying department including developing products for the ranges in line with brand strategy and maximising sales for the business.

You will work closely with the sales/supply chain and brand/marketing teams to create targeted campaigns and potentially manage your own ranges depending on experience. It is paramount that you are used to working to pace and extremely organised to effectively support this rapidly expanding and dynamic sector of the business. Building effective relationships both internally and externally will be critical in order to deliver a cohesive branded fashion range to hit sales and profit targets.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Supporting the buyer and contributing to decisions on the product range
  • Focusing on ideas and solutions that may be of longer-term benefit to profitability
  • Working closely with sales/supply chain team to review department performance and develop areas for improvement
  • Building effective working relationships both internally and externally
  • Anticipating and resolving problems with deliveries; continuing to build stable long term relationships with suppliers

They are looking for a confident candidate, who is already at Junior Buyer level or a Senior Assistant Buyer looking for the next step. The ideal candidate will have a background in a fashion retail or wholesale role but candidates with a product development background will also be considered.

The applicant will also be fashion forward with a genuine passion for product and love for the industry. They will be used to working to seasonal buying patterns and preferably possess a strong foundation of technical product knowledge within either the apparel or accessories area.

Licensed experience would be of benefit however training and support to develop this understanding can be given in situ. They will also be highly motivated, with excellent negotiation skills and a good eye for product and trends. As well as this, applicants must also be highly analytical and commercial.
