You will assist the Shop Manager in achieving or exceeding the planned income budget sales for the Woking or Sam Beare Hospice Charity Shop and present to customers and supporters a positive image of the Hospices through excellent retail practices. Responsibilities: - To support the shop's manager in establishing a successful shop in a new area for the Woking and Sam Beare Hospices - To support the shop's manager in the achievement of the shop’s set sales target and promoting customer sign up for Gift Aid, ensuring all administrative procedures are followed - To support the shop in maintaining all displays and visual merchandising aspects of the shop to a high standard, ensuring that all displays reflecting those of the current up to date trends - To demonstrate a flexible approach to contracted working hours/days and able to work additional hours that may be required for shop support e.g holiday/sickness - Provide support of the management of a team of volunteers and organise an appropriate rota to ensure that the shop is able to trade effectively Monday to Saturday and on Sundays in some locations - To support delivery of appropriate training, development and retention of volunteers including the mandatory Health and Safety training - To support the effective management in the recruitment and induction of volunteers - Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to at all times - To act as the accountable key holder for the shop and maintain effective security measures in relation to till operations and cash handling, security of stock and the shop premises - With reference to the current range plan, manage the receipt into the shop of appropriate donations - Prepare donations for safe collection by the Warehouse - Receive stock from the Warehouse and prepare for sale, including hanging, steaming and pricing according to category - Ensure that all merchandise is displayed in a logical and coordinated way, to agreed standards, in a manner that is attractive and accessible to customers as directed by your line manager - Ensure all stocks are rotated to agreed timescales and procedures, as directed by your line manager - Implement all promotional activity as advised, including Hospice promotions, for example lottery and fund raising events - Ensure the shop complies with all current Health and Safety legislation and fire and trading standards - Undertake other specific tasks as requested by your line manager from time to time - Communicate effectively with the Shop Manager - In the absence of your line manager escalate any issues and problems experienced to the Assistant Area Shops’ Manager
