Our client, one of the UK’s leading FMCG Intermediate Products producers, are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Team Leader to join their Engineering Maintenance Team in Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a team of multi-disciplinary maintenance engineers across a double day’s shift pattern (6-3 / 1-10) ensuring optimal plant availability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and oversee delivery of maintenance activities through visible presence on the “shop-floor”
  • Be accountable for the execution of the ongoing maintenance programme, ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality and meeting equipment availability and reliability targets
  • Manage a team of multi-skilled engineers, including objective setting, performance reviews and ongoing training and development requirements.
  • Continuous development of the maintenance function and engineering processes
  • Prioritise maintenance activities in accordance with production needs in the event of equipment failures
  • Develop and update maintenance schedules and plans
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork and data is complete, accurate and updated in a timely manner
  • Ensure appropriate consumable and stock levels are maintained to ensure effective and timely maintenance task completion.
  • Use initiative to solve complicated technical problems, ensuring H&S and Regulatory requirements are adhered to at all times
  • Promote and ensure clean and tidy Engineering workshop at all times, to prevent transfer of engineering debris to production or storage areas
Essential Experience & Requirements:

  • Demonstrable track record of managing a multi-disciplinary engineering team within a maintenance function
  • Relevant qualifications in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering disciplines (City & Guilds, 17th Edition, ONC, HNC Electrical Engineering)
  • Capability to guide, assist and train team members to diagnose faults in a methodical manner.
  • Capability to instil disciplined / structured ways of working.
  • Capability to think and work short and long-term and to anticipate and mitigate potential problems in good time.
  • Capability to support the business through change with an understanding of areas such as Planned Preventative Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Reliability Centred Maintenance etc.
  • Strong understanding of software packages including Excel and CMMS
  • Health & Safety Certification Desirable
