Elevation Accountancy & Finance are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant for a well known organisation in York. The position will be a contract for at least 6 months.

You will be joining at an exciting time as you lead the review of the financial processes and production of monthly management accounts. You will also be responsible for reviewing the systems and processes in full consultation with all budget holders, and ensuring the improvement of the monthly management accounts and supporting papers. You will ensure that all revised systems and process are fully embedded into the organisation.

You will also be responsible for the motivation and development of a small team of finance business partners ensuring that budget holders receive an excellent service.

Duties & Responsibilities

*Improve and co-ordinate the preparation of the monthly management accounts and supporting working papers for all organisations ensuring compliance with current accounting standards. Liaise with external auditors.

*Consolidate functional budgets to prepare meaningful and transparent corporate revenue and capital budgets monitoring packs. Prepare statements for reporting to Committees to ensure that accurate financial information is available for appropriate decision making
*Work with budget holders in the development and management of functional capital and revenue budgets. Challenge assumptions being made in budgets and forecasts to ensure appropriate use of resources
*Lead, develop and motivate the team of finance business partners to ensure budget holders receive reports that are robust, transparent, accurate, timely and appropriate to their needs and supported by appropriate advice
*Lead on specific Zero based Budgeting and Value for Money Reviews across all services
*Undertake financial appraisals and provide financial advice to colleagues (including VAT and other tax) in order to ensure that proper consideration is taken of financial implications of decision
*Review and revise the allocation of corporate overheads and ensure effective tools in place to actively manage performance against budgets across all service area
*Development of robust procedure notes for all key areas of the financial management service
*Provide training on budget management and other financial issues to colleagues in order to increase their effectiveness in carrying out their roles
*Undertake training and development of business partners to ensure that they have the right skills to support the business
*Act as finance representative on designated internal committees and groups. Prepare necessary Agenda papers
*Review of service charges and make recommendations for future fee increases
*Undertake financial appraisals for designated partner organisations as part of due diligence as requested by Deputy Director of Finance

Elevation Senior Finance would be keen to speak with candidates with the following skills and experiences:

*Monthly management reporting
*Month end journal postings/balance sheet reconciliations
*Working with senior stakeholders
*Analysis of budgets and forecasts
*Ideally CIMA qualified but not essential
