My South London based client is an internationally recognised brand, supplying their equipment worldwide. They strive to be creative, innovative and produce ground-breaking products that influence their industry!

They are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Test Engineer with a proven track record and a well-rounded, solid background in electronics to join their friendly team.

This role is suitable for a candidate with at least 2 years’ commercial experience looking to move into a relatively broad electronics testing role. The candidate will work alongside other Test Engineers & Assemblers and should have SMT soldering experience down to 0603 and a keen attention to detail.

Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, ready to tackle new challenges and learn new skills. You will be a highly motivated individual capable of developing innovative solutions.

The role requires an excellent communicator comfortable dealing with other engineers as well as customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Test Engineers are expected to cover all aspects of product testing, including working with R&D to prove new designs, production testing of finished goods, as well as test / repair of returned goods.

The role will also include developing new test procedures as well as quality assurance.

Essential Requirements

  • BS degree (or equivalent) in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, or other technical discipline
  • Minimum 2 years’ commercial experience
  • Experience of function testing PCB’s
  • Experience of fault finding and repairing
  • SMT soldering experience down to 0603
  • Knowledge of using spectrum analysers, Oscilloscopes and multi-meters
  • Hardware debugging experience (using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other appropriate test equipment)
  • Highly competent soldering skills, especially SMD reworking
  • Attention to detail and quality focus
  • Ability to work under time-scale pressure to get products out of the door on time while maintaining quality output
  • Motivation to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas quickly and clearly to participate in technical discussions

Desirable Requirements

  • Test scripting development experience
  • Microsoft Visual Basic experience
  • RF test (VHF and UHF) experience
  • Experience writing technical documentation
