pladis has a fantastic opportunity for an IS Infrastructure Manager to join the Global IS team to be based at our site in Liverpool (Binns Road) where you'll be responsible for our Servers and Storage. You'll be leading a small geogrpahically dispersed team and have the opportunity to develop your career in a truly global organisation. The role will involve some travel.

The Centre of Excellence function maintains the infrastructure that is critical for the deployment of all pladis enterprise class systems. This includes the network,servers and storage, enterprise applications & databases, end user builds, identity management and collaboration tools..

The Server and Storage Team operate as one of 6 teams within the Centre of Excellence function, and have a global remit, responsible for all the Yildiz Holdings server and storage infrastructure. Hardware is located in the Binns Road data centre and at other data centres and sites, globally. This is a key senior role within the function.

The team are located in the UK, North America and Turkey.

Key accountabilities and deliverablesTo be credible and successful in this role, the Team Manager will operate across three main areas:

1.Strategic
•Develop the strategy for corporate computing services including servers and storage across the global footprint. This includes any pladis datacentres and the integration with Cloud based services.
•Liaise with the IS Lead Architect to ensure that the strategic solutions for Server and Storage align to the global vision
•Develop and recommend advancements in the areas of the technologies the pladis IS Group are responsible for, including the development of concurrent virtualisation and cloud strategies to produce a global roadmap.
•Workiing with the IS Lead Architect, prepare requests for pricing (RFP) documentation and work with third party suppliers and the internal procurement teams, in the identification and procurement of technical solutions.
•Provide technical recommendations to application developments teams and business managers.
•Define and carry out benchmark exercises to ensure appropriate design and performance of services.



2.Governance
•Define the standards for the deployment of all server and storage related infrastructure.
•Define all the processes necessary to ensure server and storage deployments are in line with the professional delivery of IS services.
•Define, document and review all aspects of service delivery within the infrastructure environment, including monitoring, capacity, backup & recovery, support and maintenance, security and access to third parties.
•Working with the DR Manager, define and develop the ongoing DR strategy to continually improve recovery times and ensure team readiness, and, undertake DR testing bi-annually.

3.Manager
•Provide staff management activities including appraisal and objectives setting for a technical team of direct reports.
•Ensure the server & storage team attain service level agreements.
•Ensure the server & storage team maintain the server and storage infrastructure in all pladis sites, and, at any location hosting pladis / Yildiz infrastructure worldwide
•Produce training plans as required to ensure development of required skills for team members.
•Own, prepare and update delivery plans working with the Project Management Office.
•Act as lead co-ordinator with any third party supplier or vendor to ensure positive outcomes for pladis, to include, organising review meetings, confirming project plans, overseeing deployments and reviewing supplier documentation.
•Interface will all IS Managers and IS staff and contribute in a positive manner to ensure successful delivery outcomes for the IS Group
•Lead by example and undertake any reasonable task as required within the remit of Server & Storage Team Manager



Essential Experience, Skills and QualificationsTechnical expertise in server and storage technologies.
Displays necessary competencies required to design and deliver architectural roadmaps in line with IS strategic requirements.
Strong leadership ability.
Administration and problem solving skills that will ensure focused delivery by the team
Technology background
Experienced in a medium to large sized organisation

Desirable Criteria
Proven track record within an IS environment
Recent team leader / manager experience
Demonstrate technical proficiency /hands-on skills within the last 3 years
Relevant vendor specific qualifications or industry certification in ITIL / Architecture / IT
Tertiary level education
