We are a privately owned retail outlet established in 1981, seeking a Bookkeeper to join our small but thriving office on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be joining a friendly, supportive working environment within a growing company.
Working alongside the existing team and Directors you will need to show initiative, a positive attitude with a “can do” mind set. A systematic approach with strong bookkeeping/ administrative skills is key. You must be self-motivated with a good strength of character and have the ability to adjust to a sometimes stressful environment dealing with issues in a calm and proactive manner.
The role·Checking invoices against delivery notes and entering onto accounting system.·Reconciling bank and supplier accounts.·Paying suppliers and sending remittances.·Dealing with supplier account queries·Balancing the sales till at the end of the day.·Reconciling till records to accounts.·Producing sales reports from till system.·Petty cash reconciliation.·Payroll.·Pension administration.·VAT returns.·Ad hoc duties for the store manager.·Liaising with Finance Manager and auditors.
Skills required·Ability to work without supervision.·Initiative.·Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.·Good team player, personable and friendly.·Experience of the Xero accounting system would be an advantage.Preference will be given to candidates who have at least 2 years’ experience of working in a retail environment and understand how the various merchanting companies work.
