This is a very interesting one. A brand new role has come available for a technically minded digital specialist with elements of solutions architecture, technical project management, digital strategy and team leadership all in one hit - as well as the opportunity to play a leading role in the digital department of one of the region's largest-scale B2B eCommerce operations - what's not to like?

What you\'ll be doing

In essence, you'll be tasked with creating a team who will be acting as an internal web development agency. Your team will be the team responsible for ensuring that the digital properties of the organisation (a large scale eCommerce portal as well as multiple other websites and platforms all intricately linked) are as advanced as they possibly can be. You will be the technical authority, supporting the head of department in advising the Board on what the business needs to be doing to achieve their giddying digital ambitions. You'll be working with the business to review the whole digital stack, ensuring they're using the most cutting edge technology - solidifying, simplifying, optimising as you go. You will be building a team of inhouse developers around you and will own the relationship with multiple third party agencies. Although you will be bringing high level stakeholder management skills, coupled with
team management and digital strategy - it is very important that you've stayed close to the tech from a hands-on perspective. You'll need to be technically involved enough to both talk the talk to technical and non-technical colleagues alike as well as be hands-on enough to process many of the lighter weight technical tasks yourself, without having to outsource to agencies at cost. Web and data analytics, user acceptance testing, project management and product management will naturally be part of your role as well.

What experience you\'ll need

As you'll have understood by now, this is something of a hybrid role between technical project management, development team management, digital strategy and product management. For that reason, we really need a blend of skills and experience. The technical side of things is very important. You most likely started your career as a developer or engineer and have since moved in to technical project management or a head of online/digital role where you've had overall responsibility for a business' web presence. You'll have solid stakeholder management skills and will be a clear communicator, able to distil very complex ideas in a simple and engaging way. You'll be an organised project manager with experience leading high profile web and digital projects. Ideally, you'll have lead Agile product developments in an eCommerce environment. The primary languages you'll be dealing with are ASP .Net, HTML5, Java,
JavaScript and SQL - a background in these will be needed. So, we're not asking for much!

What you\'ll get in return

We have a nice package on offer here. The basic salary can stretch to £50k with a significant bonus, market-leading pension and valuable broader benefits package. This is also a brand new role in a business that has huge ambitions, you'll be playing a key part in that journey.
