Outstanding Charity who do amazing work across London are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant initially for a 6 month contract role to cover maternity leave. Ideally you need to be on 2 week’s notice or less. The role will give the successful applicant excellent exposure to managements accounts, budgets and other arears in the accounts department.

Job Purpose

To assist in the production of timely and reliable monthly management accounts, together with such accounts, statistics and other information.

Duties and Responsibilities

Management Accounts/ Reporting

  • Reconcile the necessary accounts
  • Ensure that all periodic adjustments are documented and processed correctly and promptly.
  • Carry out variance analysis and hold regular meetings with senior managers to discuss budget variances.
  • Presentation and distribution of reports.
  • Process statistical and statutory or regulatory returns.
Budgets

  • Assist with Association's budgeting process.
  • Presentation and distribution of budgets/ reports.
Fixed Assets

  • Process documentation for Capital Panel meetings and capital purchases, take minutes of meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain Fixed Asset module in Sage.
  • Ensure that agreed capital expenditure is correct, depreciation schedules are up to date and monthly depreciation calculations are correct and posted into Sage.
BACS Receipts

  • Submit BACS files on regular basis within deadlines & post into cash book.
  • Process ARUDD (BACS rejection) reports & post into cash book.
  • Retrieve and distribute ADDACS (BACS amendment and cancellation) reports.
Loans

  • Assist in maintaining the loan administration workbook and reconcile to balance sheet.
  • Calculate interest payable and loan covenants.
Investments

  • Calculate Investment gains/losses from our advisors’ documentation.
  • Post all dividends, interest income as well as other investment related transactions in accordance with valuation statement.
  • Reconcile investment transactions and prepare investment schedules for audit.
KNOWLEDGE

Essential Desirable

ACCA/ACA/CIMA (part) qualified A general understanding of UK company and charity laws and housing regulatory requirements

Have an understanding of VAT

Numeracy skills and an ability to understand, analyse and manipulate complex information and data.

EXPERIENCE

Experience of management accounting and budgeting

Experience of working in a Housing Association, Health & Fitness, Childcare and/or Charity environment

Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience of working with fixed asset systems

Experience of market leading finance systems e.g. Sage, Sun Accounts, Microsoft Dynamics, Brixx etc. Sage 200

APTITUDES AND SKILLS

Intermediate MS Excel and Word skills Able to travel around Association Centres.

Salary £30,000 to £30,700 per annum

Hours of Work

40 hours per week, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday

Annual Leave - Commencing at 25 days pro rata per annum plus public holidays.
