My client based in Swadlincote are currently recruiting for a Production Engineering Manager who comes from an Engineering background. The role would suit an Engineer looking for a new exciting opportunity where they can manage a team and maintain machinery within the business.

The selected candidate would be in charge of the management of the Production Section functions and all activities relating to the Staffing within the Workshop. The role will involve liaising with the Administration Coordinator throughout each day to ensure continuity of business through customer orders and the progression of produced items to the Packing, Dispatch and Stock Control section.

Duties will include:
• Participate in progressive on-the-job training in the use and maintenance of specialised light machinery associated with the production of small wood-turned items and contribute to the weekly production targets.

• Maintain and assist in the development of procedures and processes associated with the daily production activities of the business.

• Maximise the production output through the maintenance and production running of machinery and equipment, including tool selection, cutter maintenance, machine setting and material planning.

• Contribute to the weekly output targets for the Production Section.

• Manage and allocate time of members of the Production Department to maximise the usage of the briquette making machine and all of its component parts.

• Arrange and implement on-the-job Staff training in Quality Inspection methods and standards, the use of electronic counting machinery associated with the packaging of small wood-turned items and packaging methods to be used for despatch.

• Be a Mentor and role model for new Staff or Trainees appointed to the Production area and provide on-the-job training to Production Trainees.

• Be creative in raising and implementing continuous improvements and methods used in the Production area with regard to work practices and machine maintenance / usage.

• Oversee the recording of daily production figures as the basis for piecework payments to Wood Pellet Turning Production Assistants.

• Monitor, Record and Verify completed production quantities in the Stock Movement File in readiness for transfer to Stock or Despatch.

• Gather data and maintain production records in order to show trends and to allow forecasts to be provided to the Directors.

• Assist in the process of obtaining quotes from suppliers and service providers under the guidance of the Directors.

• Control the purchase, receipt, storage and issuing of timber and other relevant incoming items within the Production Department.

• Develop and maintain a clear storage system and records for incoming timber and production materials.

• Deal with incoming and outgoing telephone calls and e mails relating to the daily activities of the Production Department.

• Assist in the recruitment process of staff within the Production Department.

• Oversee and undertake general day to day maintenance of machinery, equipment fixtures and fittings throughout the business premises or delegate such tasks to other members of staff wherever and whenever possible.

The working hours for the role will be Monday to Friday 0830 – 1715 with a 30 minute lunch break.

My client is offering a salary of £25,000-£30,000 dependant on experience.
