An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager within our leading UK food company.

We have a tradition of providing high quality delicious food to key retail partners that stretches back over 160 years.

As an Engineering Manager you will be the inspirational lead for the changes within the Engineering department and the ideal candidate will be an experienced Engineering Manager within the food manufacturing sector.

As an Engineering Manager will have to be able to cope with the day to day pressures that the role brings and to ensure the safe running of equipment and services to all machinery in order to meet production and Health and Safety requirements by ensuring all repairs, modifications and PPM tasks are completed to the correct standards.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop a clear engineering strategy for the Spalding Bakery to support the group business plan

• Develop and document best practice policies, strategy plans and visual KPI’s (including cost reduction, inventory reduction, availability obsolescence and data base accuracy)

• Implement an asset management program to cover process equipment, services and manufacturing facilities, selection and standardisation of technology, equipment and machine parts

• Ensure PPMs issued to the shift are carried out correctly to plan, rectifying any reasons for not completing this action

• Identify solutions to reduce material variance

• Ensure fault finding is logical, well structured, and conducted in a timely manner across shifts

• Comply with all regulatory, customer, environmental, insurance and safety requirements, ensuring all audit non-conformances are addressed

• Manage on-site contractors in compliance with site and group work safety procedures

• Ensure all mechanically biased personnel have a full complement of mechanical skills

• Ensure all electrically biased personnel have a full skill set of electrical controls, machine operation and drive maintenance/awareness

• Support the engineering and QA teams in ensuring all aspects of the engineering procedures/ controls are understood and consistently achieved

• Manage the engineering team to provide clear direction, motivation and support through management and coaching of direct reports, conducting regular performance reviews to identify any training/development requirements

• Ensure the Management checks, legislation checks and all management PM’s/routines are identified and implemented, understood and undertaken consistently and completed within the time requirements.

• Ensure team understand and maintain good housekeeping and cleaning standards. Regular audits are consistently achieved and personnel audits are carried out on a set frequency.

• Ensure toolbox audits are consistently carried out and that job audits are carried out with individuals on a weekly basis with supportive constructive feedback being given.
