Position Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager provide engineering support for day to day operation of Planned Maintenance and Reactive Maintenance works to Building Services Systems within Welbeck Defence Sixth form College.


  • Carry out PPM on all relevant assets and ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are maintained and updated
  • Undertake the day to day maintenance and repair of building services installations, including lighting, power, replacement of lamps and fluorescent tubes, HVAC , emergency lighting systems, motors, BMS, intruder alarms
  • Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept appertaining to: Health & Safety, Building Compliance and Quality Assurance and planned, /reactive maintenance
  • Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract in line with Interserve corporate policies and procedures
  • Administer sub contractor work approval and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site
  • To operate safe systems of work in accordance with Interserve QHSE procedures
  • Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times
  • Working knowledge of Legionella and water hygiene control systems
  • Overview the buildings environmental conditions using the BMS System and utilise and maintain acceptable internal conditions
  • Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices
  • To maintain & develop good client relationships
  • Ensure the provision of a Safe & Healthy working environment
  • Support and assist other team members at every opportunity, and undertake any other duties which are within the capabilities and capacity of the post holder
  • Ensure that work allocated for each week/month is completed within given timescales and maintain documentation as per agreed KPI’s
  • Ensure a professional image of Interserve FM is presented to clients and visitors
  • Undertake training and professional development as required within the job role
  • Qualify for Entry in Skilled Persons Register (Electrical)
Additional Duties

· Participate in on-call rota providing a point of contact and support through silent hours where required.

· To undertake any other duties that may be required for the effective operation of the hard and soft services departments.

· Comply with all Health & Safety Legislation, safe systems of work, QSHE and sustainability policies in accordance with Interserve Company Policies and Procedures

What we are looking for


  • Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Qualification or equivalent
  • General all round knowledge of Heating & Ventilation / Airconditioning and building support system and their methods of control
  • Good Mechanical knowledge
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good written English skills
  • ICT Literate
  • Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service
  • Calm manner, able to work under pressure With the ablility to make sound decisions when needed
  • Able to work at heights and on roofs
  • Ability to work within a team or on your own.


  • Basic operational knowledge of Trend Building Management Systems
  • Operational experience of JSP 375 Safe Systems of Work
  • Good basic handyperson skills
  • Manual handling
  • 1st Aid at Work Qualification

Additional Information

Working Hours
  • Standard working hours are 0800 - 1630 Monday - Thursday (0800 - 1600 Friday)
  • Standby rate for on call duty paid at current rate
