As a Lead Senior Project Engineer at HS2 you will provide specialist technical support and leadership on engineering issues to the project delivery team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the project to time, budget and quality so that assets installed by the programme are fit for purpose.

About the role:

Key role in leading the assurance of scheme/detailed design and construction of a West Midlands Station as part of the HS2 development works, reporting to the Head of Engineering, Area NorthBe responsible for undertaking Principal Designer representative duties to ensure CDM sector compliance for the station design and construction activities, reporting up to the HS2 Head of Engineering, Area North.Lead HS2 engineering point of contact for the Station Design Services Contract and subsequent Design and Build Contractor completing detailed design and construction works for a West Midlands Station.Undertake delegated Project Supervisor duties under NEC3 ECC terms, by ensuring that self-assurance requirements are discharged by the project supply chain.Work with third parties and interface with relevant teams to understand and incorporate their design requirements in order to assist in the production of a viable project plan.Provide and update project documentation, site records and all test results, surveys and audits in line with HS2 policies and standards, to ensure required documentation is provided to support project delivery.Report regularly and communicate progress and potential issues and recommendations to the project team in an effective and appropriate manner and effectively liaise with interfacing project teams to support operations and the successful delivery of the project.About You:


Demonstrable experience of the development of major transport hubs, including management of interfaces with other transport modes (taxi, rail, underground, pedestrian movements, etc.). Ideally this would include experience in a rail environment.Proven track record in design and design management of major projects and working with sponsors, regulatory bodies and other major stakeholders.Experience of managing multiple design and construction interfaces – including architects, structural designers, systems and MEPDemonstrable ability to plan, implement and manage major engineering projects to deliver to time, budget and quality.Solid understanding of contract, schedule, commercial and risk management principles.Interpersonal skills to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders and effectively communicate with non-technical and technical stakeholders.KNOWLEDGE

Engineering degree or equivalent coupled with Chartered Engineer status and membership of an appropriate professional institution.Demonstrable knowledge of the CDM Regulation (2015) and other pertinent Health and Safety legislation.Extensive knowledge of the design and construction of structures.Understands and applies engineering practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts across a wide range of engineering disciplines.TYPE OF EXPERIENCE

Failure to obtain results, reaching erroneous decisions or making recommendations would typically result in serious programme delays and considerable expenditure of resources.Liaison: Interacts frequently with inter-organisational personnel, stakeholders and external customers.
