Overview

We currently have a role within our busy and established Business Services team in Northampton for a talented Business Services Accountant / Business Services Semi Senior.

The purpose of the role will be to undertake management accounts, preparation of financial statements, provision of training in cloud based software (desirable) and preparation of VAT returns for clients, ensuring deadlines and proper accounting standards are met.

Please note the role will require onsite work with clients.

Responsibilities

Management Accounting

  • Prepare management accounts from information and documentation received from clients, ensuring that all relevant deadlines are met.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to clients in relation to financial reporting matters. Complete each assignment as far as possible before passing to the manager for review.
  • Complete VAT returns for allocated clients.
Financial statements
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with relevant financial reporting standards from books and records maintained by MHA MacIntyre Hudson or the client.
  • Prepare sufficient accounting schedules to support the balances and transactions included in the financial statements.
  • Adhere to proper accounting standards.
  • Meet deadlines and time budgets.
Client Relations
  • Develop and maintain good client relations.
  • Liaise with clients directly or through relevant manager to resolve queries or obtain further information.
  • Ensure a high level of service to meet client’s expectations.
  • Ensure that all hours worked on assignments are correctly recorded.
  • Take timely and relevant recommendations in relation to accounting matters, financial reporting and accounting systems in use (including software).
  • Daily communication with Account Manager regarding work planning, time management and any issues regarding completing work
  • Daily communication with clients, regarding information for completing the work.
  • Ensure information arrives on time.
  • Ensure deadlines and client expectations are met.
Qualifications, skills and experience
  • Four years + general practice experience with demonstrable knowledge of producing management accounts and completing VAT returns.
  • Knowledge of cloud based accounting systems such as Xero preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Organised and methodical.
  • Client focussed.
  • Strong IT skills including Word, Outlook and Excel, to an intermediate level, for the production of letters and spreadsheets.

  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to operate strict deadlines and handle conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
