Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be working with an international multi-disciplinary Consultancy based in Belfast, who are looking to recruit an ambitious and proactive Principal Town Planner to join their team and assist in the delivery of high calibre Planning services.

This award winning consultancy work on a broad range of projects on behalf of their public and private sector clients, providing advice across the entire spectrum of projects from initial feasibility studies through to the submission of planning applications and appeals. They have strong local and national networks and a collaborative culture.

Reporting to the Director of the Belfast Planning team you will be working across a diverse client base. You will be responsible for preparing site appraisals, development plan representations, submitting planning (and other) applications and appeals and advising clients generally. As a commercially minded individual you will be supported in developing your own client base and taking the lead on projects with budgetary accountability. As a multidisciplinary organisation you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with multi-skilled teams on larger proposals.

The successful candidate will ideally have at least 3 years' post-graduate experience, a relevant RTPI accredited degree and/or Masters as noted above and have a full UK driving license. You will be capable of managing a varied workload and be confident taking on the responsibility for the day-to-day management of concurrently running projects. Other key skills and experience will include:

  • Ability to deliver reliable technical input in a timely and efficient way
  • A team player with good people skills, who will thrive in a customer-facing role
  • Be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and the ability to work under your own initiative to meet client's expectations and help expand the business
  • Have excellent communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with multi-skilled teams internally and externally
  • Above all, you will have a 'can-do' and positive approach to your career
