My client, a successful family run steel distributor and processor in the South East of England are looking for experience Maintenance Engineers to join their established business in Kent With over 100 years industry experience my client are one of the largest steel stockist in the United Kingdom and annually turnover north of £90 Million. This figure is set to rise and with the company growing at a rate of knots (Annually 20%) and new state of the Art plasma cutting equipment being installed, this is an exciting time to join the team.
About the role
As a Maintenance Engineer you will be tasked with carrying out both planned preventive and emergency breakdown maintenance on a diverse range of plant machinery, including CNC controlled lasers, drills, water jet machines m shop blast, painting line and overhead cranes among others. Preventive maintenance will include realigning sensors, lubricating components, checking for vibration and some root cause analysis. Typical breakdowns with this plant include repairing hydraulic valves, changing sensors, replacing bearing cases, repairing cable damage plus more.
You may be tasked with carrying out some light fabrication work including welding, re-bending and welding brackets. You will have access to the Siemens S7 PLC system to fault find and check input and outputs. This role will include helping with the installation of electrical, hydraulic and compressor air systems.
Finally, there will be an aspect of training involved within this role developing other team members including other engineers and machine operators.

- You must be apprentice trained (Electrical or Mechanical accepted)
- Be conversant working within both electrical and mechanical components.
- Experience within a similar industry would be beneficial however not essential.
- To be able to work within a team, however competent working alone when needed.
- Be self-motivated, a real get up and go attitude.
- Experience checking, I/O and fault finding on Siemens S7 plc system.
- The ability to conduct root cause analyse is beneficial.
