SHIFT EQUIPMENT ENGINEER

IQE Making tomorrow’s technology today...

IQE PLC is a leading global supplier of advanced semiconductor materials. It has over 50% share in the global market for advanced mobile communications materials, and is rapidly growing in its other markets which include photonics, high efficiency solar power generation, advanced infra-red, power switching and LEDs.

The company is proudly associated with the CS (Compound Semiconductor) Connected Cluster. The showpiece of this £375m investment between IQE, the Welsh Assembly, UK Government and local authorities will be a state of the art compound semiconductor foundry. To help grow and develop this new facility, IQE now needs to recruit a number of experienced Shift Equipment Engineers.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the Shift Equipment Engineer will provide Equipment Engineering support to production by managing the various systems in terms of, breakdown, maintenance, planned preventative maintenance, record keeping and performance. You will play a key role driving OEE and equipment efficiency, supporting and leading a small team of shift technicians and using your superior fault finding skills to drive route cause analysis for ongoing and reactive maintenance issues. Other key responsibilities will include:
  • The day-to-day maintenance of manufacturing systems and ancillary plant support systems.
  • Maximising the uptime of all equipment necessary for production.
  • Continual Improvement of reliability and performance of systems and equipment.
  • Proactive involvement in the support of process improvement and problem solving programmes.
  • To provide site wide engineering and maintenance support to be carried out on manufacturing systems.
  • To provide medium and long term planned preventative maintenance function and record keeping.
  • To monitor reactor performance and identify problems and establish and implement lasting solutions to those problems.

Educated to HNC/HND calibre (degree preferred) or time served in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering, you are a proven and highly experienced shift maintenance engineer, Supervisor or Team Leader. This will suit candidates from a range of volume or high volume manufacturing backgrounds including; semiconductors, FMCG, food, electronics, automotive and pharmaceuticals. We would also be interested in speaking to candidates leaving the armed forces (RAF/Navy) in NCO leader roles. The ability to motivate, lead, enjoy being hands on and have strong problem solving skills are a must in this role, as is a strong bias towards mechanical engineering.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a UK headquartered business, enjoying true global success. The Shift Equipment Engineer will benefit from an excellent base salary and a 40% shift allowance and a benefits package including; company pension, life insurance, health insurance, company bonus, generous holiday allowance, share options scheme and full relocation support if required.

Apart from the enhanced job security and career development on offer, you are clearly excited by the chance of being part of something new, and helping make IQE great.
