Further to a successful campaign of business growth, we are working closely with one of our manufacturing partner to appoint an experienced Project Engineer with plastic injection moulding product experience. Expiry 01/02/2018

Job Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to work closely with sales & customers to provide technical expertise with the customer’s product & capabilities. Further to ongoing support & training, you will gain a strong understanding of the customer’s technical requirements and ability to make design changes and communicate appropriate solutions. As Project Engineer you will assist the customer in working through recommended or required changes to their 3D CAD model to help them take advantage of the company’s capabilities in CNC machining of the tool, appropriate plastic injection moulding material selection, to the finished product presentation. As Project Engineer you will balance the objective of satisfying the customer requests with the potential of downstream risks to deliver acceptable parts on schedule. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • When reviewing and approving outgoing modified quotations, act as the primarily technical resource to evaluate opportunities where it is appropriate to work outside of the standard processes
  • Promptly and accurately address technical questions including resin, mould ability and part design issues from contacts using the appropriate communication tool
  • Address technical objections from customers by focusing on strengths
  • Communicate opportunities and risks identified during customer interactions to appropriate sales representative
  • Support customer-centric philosophy in all written and verbal communications both internally and externally
  • Phone follow-up to non-customer contacts that have received quotes with required 3D CAD model changes to discuss how they can make the changes to improve manufacturability using the company processes
  • Participate in customer meetings on and off site, exhibitions and conference calls upon request to provide technical support for the sales process
  • Document relevant notes in the intranet and critical information in CRM to move the sales process forward
  • Resolve issues diplomatically in a logical and non-emotional manner
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities as required

  • Qualifications:

    ·Strong verbal and written communication skills

    ·Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport and customer trust

    ·Demonstrated ability to use Q&A techniques to assess a customer’s situation in order to provide relevant solutions in the form of recommended 3D CAD model changes

    ·Ability to work in conjunction with a quota carrying sales team supporting the sales process

    ·Grasp the manufacturing and business processes

    ·Experience with 3D CAD modelling software, SolidWorks or equivalent is highly desired

    ·Solid understanding of the plastic injection moulding ( essential ) and CNC machining ( an advantage bu tnot essential ) processes including an understanding of thermal and mechanical properties of thermoplastic resins

    ·Solid understanding of mechanical design and the principles of designing for injection moulding

    ·Familiar with Quality Control inspection techniques and documentation methods

    ·Proficient with measuring instruments including calipers, surface plates and height gages

    ·Experienced with CRM and MS Office products

    ·Comfortable with technology (computers, 3D software, plastic, RP technologies, tooling etc.)

    ·Minimum 2 years successful experience working directly with end customers as part of a successful revenue generating team

    ·Relevant degree or 3 years’ experience in mechanical, design or manufacturing engineering or related field
