Lead Toolroom Engineer

My client is a reputable and respected manufacturer with a reputation for rewarding heard work and promoting learning and are now recruiting key skilled personnel for their teams as they expand in the New Year.

Job role / duties

•Effectively review the shift changeover detail to allow continuity of ongoing repair situations
•Liaise with other shift leaders on latest repair solutions
•Determine priorities with production Shift Supervisors and understand production time constraints on breakdown instances
•Designate tasks to shift subordinates determined by priority breakdowns and outstanding die prep tasks
•Provide the lead in guidance and assistance in all breakdowns. On major breakdown issues provide a clear repair plan for subordinates and overview the repair outcome against that plan
•Ensure that a comprehensive end of shift report is completed and passed over to the next team leader
•Support the team in relation to technical best practice, ensures adherence to established policies and procedures
•Ensure die prep work is carried out to the required standard and timeframe
•Identify route cause of issues found during run-up to ensure that they do not reoccur
•Encourage and implement good practice and continuous improvement. Highlights deficiencies in processes and recommends improved methods.
•Maintain stores records
•Provide feedback on any near misses or prospective H&S shortfalls
•Complete any required accident reports
•Deal promptly with performance and attendance issues.
•Identify and recognise individual achievement.
•Ensure effective communication with other lead engineers, shift Toolroom
•Inspect completed work to ensure quality and fulfilment
•Complete documentation in accordance with company procedures.
•Troubleshoot dimensional issues.
•Maintain high standard of organisation, safety and housekeeping within the Tool room
