A leading Global Automotive Manufacturer of advanced transmission systems are currently undergoing a period of rapid growth with investment in brand new state of the art R&D and manufacturing facility in the UK.

POSITION: Chief Engineer - Automotive Powertrain, Electrical Systems
SALARY: Highly attractive package
LOCATION: Warwickshire

As Chief Engineer you will be responsible for developing and integration of e-powertrain systems for the next generation of hybrid and electric vehicles. Leading R&D activities including Validation, Functional Safety and Homologation of all new electrical systems and products. As a leader in the market, they design, develop and manufacture a range of systems and products which are supplied to major Automotive OEMs around the world.

Duties:
o Specification, development and integration of electrical powertrain system to meet customers requirements, working in close liaison with their production facilities and European R&D centre.
o Direct the design & development of electrical system components to include e-machines, motors, invertors, battery/ storage and power electronic technology.
o Lead system and component-level safety case development, and follow industry standard techniques to ensure a robust design, e.g. FMEA.
o Plan, manage and action Design Verification and Validation activity at a system and/or vehicle level.
o Manage and co-ordinate the release of electrical components into PLM systems, and support through PPAP into production across multiple projects.

Experience:
Applications are welcomed from existing Chief Engineers, Principal Engineer, Engineering Managers or Senior Engineers who are currently working for an automotive vehicle OEM, component supplier or engineering consultancy.
o Degree/ MSc Electrical / Electronics Engineering or Science related qualified
o Demonstrable experience in an automotive or similar engineering environment, with a preferred focus on EV and hybrid vehicle technologies.
o Proven experience of working on automotive e-powertrain systems (such as motors; inverters; batteries/energy storage; power electronics) and understanding their interfaces and integration into the vehicle.
o Understanding of automotive HV standards; design methodologies and working practices.
o Good understanding of Functional Safety ( ISO 26262) processes and concepts.
o System Specification, Requirements Capture/Management and Design Validation processes.
o Industry-standard calibration tools ( Vector CANape, ETAS INCA ) and network tools ( Vector CANanlyser, LIN, Flexray )
