Senior Planning Engineer
We have a wonderful opportunity to join a large and growing business that has a core focus on delivering large infrastructure projects throughout the UK, but they have a worldwide business delivery capability.
We are seeking a Senior Planning Engineer that is happy to work on projects along the M4 corridor and would have a home base near to Reading, Swindon or Bristol, and be prepared to travel to those locations as part of the job.
The client has an abundance of new work, and a strong order book, so job security is high. Our client has recently been awarded a large rail project, the detailed design and construct contract for the works comprising:
- Site clearance
- A 3-road maintenance building with workshops and stores
- 3 storey office and welfare facilities for depot engineering and train crew operations personnel
- Automatic train-wash with associated buildings, plant and infrastructure
- All new and modified Permanent Way including switches, crossings, turntables in shed and buffers
- Fluids storage and delivery/disposal systems, associated plant buildings and bunding.

The position of Senior Planning Engineer will be to provide support:
to the management team through the provision of an efficient and effective planning, scheduling and project performance reporting function; and
Oversee bid teams through the provision of an efficient and effective planning, scheduling and planning deliverables function for any work type and any value, and subsequently contribute to post tender negotiations and handover to the project team.
You'll have 8+ years' experience working as a Planner, Senior Planner on rail, highways or other civil engineering projects.
A civil engineering or construction qualification.
Broad experience of a wide range of civil engineering construction, to Sub Agent level at least, with sound commercial knowledge and substantial understanding of typical production rates.
Proven ability to produce and manage comprehensive, robust programmes in P6.
Able to communicate effectively at all levels and experienced in coaching others.
We are looking to pay up to £60,000 per annum salary, plus a great benefits package. Lots of on the job training, support and career progression opportunities.
