We are a medium sized civil engineers company looking for a competent individual with Civil Engineers/Groundwork’s background.

The company has been established for the past 15 years and we are looking to expand, thus requiring a contracts manager. As well the position, the ideal candidate would be looking to purchase a percentage of the business investing capital but most importantly, creating a partnership to expand the business.

You will shadow the director and quantity surveyor for a period and then once competent, manage your own office. You will also have the opportunity to attend site meetings and site visits to carry out material measures, progression reports and Health & Safety audits.

The following duties will be required of you -

  • Assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and cost effective service stream on all areas of service delivery ensuring the highest quality of work is provided in the timescales determined by the contract.
  • Understand site specific plans provided by Senior Management/Quantity Surveyor and continually review, Implement, monitor and enforce procedures.
  • Review method statements and risk assessments to ensure compliance with company procedures, arrange and chair pre-start meetings with sub - contractors and attend hand - over meeting with pre-construction team.
  • Issue correct notices and relevant contractual correspondence to sub-contractors at the appropriate time
  • Instigate, control and run projects from contract award to handover within budgetary constraints.
  • Complete site diaries for all activities and highlight any risk items to management
  • Control and monitor day works
  • Assist with the production of short term programmes.
  • Maintain a good level of understanding of construction techniques, problems and solutions, and work closely together with Site Technical Staff to review and develop appropriate techniques and cost effective solutions
  • IMPORTANT - You must be able to procure contracts as well maintain good working relations with other contractors. Maintaining company margins is vital so ensuring all assets are working at to their full potential is vital.
