I’m looking to find a Project Engineer for my client who is based in North Yorkshire.

Job Summary

To support Project Managers to execute delivery of projects to time and specification

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Create new product designs to achieve the required objectives and standards for both client and the customer to maximise the probability of success.

  • Liaising with Sales and Marketing to understand what the market requirements and opportunities are for new/extended product ranges and applications.

  • Networking with customers to generate potential Development Projects.

  • Presenting design and technical data.

    Provide effective communication to internal and external customers in compliance to required project or test specifications within defined deadlines.

    The effectiveness of the Projects Engineer will be measured by the achievement of the following:

  • Time taken to generate concepts at enquiry stage against KPI’s

  • The effective transfer of the new product through the stage gate system from NPD to production.

    Ensure the successful realisation of the product into manufacture.

    In addition to this primary role, the Project Engineer will be required to provide additional assistance where necessary. This will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing and New Product Development functions in the form of bearing design recommendations, and assembly considerations.

  • Investigate problems and complaints.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.


  • Competence of plastic product design using 2D and 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).

  • Competence in the design of small mechanisms or similar.

  • Competence in the design of production jigs and fixtures.

  • Competence in designing for manufacture, assembly and for quality with skills in failure prevention. (a knowledge of Ansys FEA and Moldflow desirable)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Practical experience of plastic part design.

  • Practical experience of jig and fixture design.

  • Practical experience of plastic injection moulding, tool design and material processing.

  • Experience in both high volume and batch manufacturing in a technical plastic injection moulding environment.

  • Financially astute with the ability to maximise profit through product and process design.

  • Knowledge of rolling element bearings and their application.

  • Experienced in assessing and managing risk to maximise project success.

  • Robust approach to problem solving and project management.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and TS16949 Product Realisation Process.
