About the role

Due to our increasing workload we are currently looking for an experienced Transportation Engineer / Transport Planner to join our busy Highways and Infrastructure team based in our Leicester head office, working primarily on development projects.

Your primary role will be to assist our Principal Transportation Engineer and other Transportation team members in developing a variety of transport schemes and preparing transport assessments and travel plans.

You will work on a wide variety of schemes ranging in complexity, both small and very extensive, across the whole of the UK. Many schemes are multi-disciplinary, working with colleagues across the variety of Pick Everard disciplines and with external consultants. Recent transportation projects have included school expansions, leisure facilities, large multi-purpose community development master planning and assessment, large emergency services facilities, extensive residential development master planning and assessment, and major junction redesigns. Projects have been located as far north as Fife in Scotland and as far south as the Isle of Wight, with recent heavy workload in London. You will be mainly office based but you will be expected to visit most sites and undertake site observations and surveys as required.

This post offers a job of great variety in a highly motivated and friendly team. With the support of other team members, you will be required to undertake all areas of work e.g. modelling, surveys, outline design, multi-modal traffic forecasting and distribution, sustainable transport assessment and report writing. Training and guidance will be given in areas of work you are less familiar with.


About you

Key skills and experience:

At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience, ideally with relevant HND/degree level qualificationExperience in the management and preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Highways ReportsCompetency in using Transportation modelling software – ARCADY, PICADY (Junctions 9), LinSigAbility to liaise directly with Clients, Local Authorities and other stakeholdersExcellent report writing skillsAbility to be flexible in hours of work and location of site visits, with occasional overnight stays, in order to meet the requirements of peak hour observations on siteFamiliar with the use of TRICS, TEMPRO and UK Census data to forecast multi-modal traffic generation - desirableCompetency in the use of AutoCAD - desirableWorking knowledge of highway design to DMRB and Manual for Streets - desirable
