Our client is looking for an Accountant to cover a 12 month maternity contract in their finance team.

Based in Darwen, our client is an award winning manufacturer, with global clients. They are a well renowned brand with thousands of clients who expect only the highest quality products. Quality of service and experience is at the heart of everything they do.

This role is a 12 month maternity cover; however a fantastic opportunity to have full autonomy and exposure across the accounts function, where you will assist the Finance Director in budgeting, forecasting and management reports.

As an Accountant your role will include;

  • Purchase Ledger Processing - 100 invoices per week
  • Payment scheduling, processing and negotiating, including foreign payments
  • Calculation and payment of weekly wages and the completion of all associated documentation, reports etc.
  • Calculation and payment of monthly salaries and the completion of all associated documentation, reports
  • Monthly PAYE payments/reconciliations and payroll year end
  • The preparation of all yearend return documents
  • Month end accounts to include: stock take, accruals, prepayments, account reconciliations, KPIs and other month end reports
  • Cash Book posting
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • V.A.T. Return preparation
  • Maintain System exchange rates
  • Provide cover for Credit Control and Materials Controller
  • Ad Hoc report writing
  • Assist with budget preparation
  • Reception, Incoming Calls and Postal duties
  • Ensuring that housekeeping standards are met at all times

The ideal Accountant must;

  • Have a minimum of 4 years' experience working in a senior Accounts position
  • Methodical approach with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative
  • Knowledge of payroll would be beneficial (70 weekly employees and 15 monthly employees)
  • CIMA qualification is desirable, but those holding a wealth experience in Accounts and Finance will be considered
  • Knowledge of Sage 200 and advanced Excel skills including vlookops & pivot tables

Our client can offer;

  • Circa £25K - flexible dependent on experience
  • 35hours per week (flexible days working between hours of 8am - 6.30pm)
