Our client has a vacancy for a Payroll Bureau Supervisor to ensure the operational delivery of all customer focused payroll services to the agreed customer service levels. The role has line management responsibility for 6 payroll assistants.


•Maintain Payroll Bureau procedures in general and for each customer

•Ensure all BACS files are sent on time

•Management of day to day pay related matters including responding to pay and pension queries

•To ensure all statutory and annual returns are made in a timely manner

•Ensure statutory compliance on all pay related practices

•Involvement with implementations of our services when we win new business

•Ensuring adherence to Data Protection Act and any breaches are escalated accordingly

•Advising colleagues of software change requirements

•Maintaining confidentiality and security of any payroll and employee systems, to meet company, legal and statutory requirements

•Be the first contact for team questions on payroll processes or queries

•Keep abreast of statutory legislation & education pension requirements

•Record and report on Payrolls to enable accurate invoicing and department analysis


•Strong numeric skills

•Ability to know what questions to ask in order to obtain information

•Ability to communicate effectively and accurately

•Ability to think methodically

•Ability to be assertive – job holder needs to be comfortable approaching all levels of management for information if required

•Ability to take a systematic approach to work

•Ability to work on own initiative
