Offshore Inspection Engineer
Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator, based in Norwich, is currently seeking an Offshore Inspection Engineer to join their busy team.
This position is based offshore working a 2/2 rotation and reports directly to the Senior Inspection Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, co-ordination, execution, supervision and quality control of asset integrity inspections for offshore facilities.
As the Offshore Inspection Engineer, you will be responsible to provide forward planning for inspections including access and labour requirements. In addition, this role acts as an independent inspector, a point of contact and liaison between operations, inspections teams and the Integrity team in support of day to day operational management.
Key responsibilities include:·Planning – Undertake a pre-trip review a month in advance of planned trip. Ensure any resource requirements such as standby boat, insulation removal, scaffold etc are highlighted as required.·Co-ordination – Review work scopes and identify resources required. Ensure the Written Scheme of Examination is suitable for each inspection required and raise any queries with the Integrity Engineer, ensuring any agreed amendments are updated by relevant Integrity Engineer in TiM.·Management - Control implementation of inspection and specialist sub-contractors; responsible for managing all inspections to ensure the required quality and value for money is achieved. Own and manage inspection asset lists, ensuring inspections are executed with appropriate priority and timing. ·Inspection Quality – Ensure all inspection reports are fully reviewed for accuracy, clarity and fulfilment of scope ensuring that the onsite, as found condition of the asset is accurately and fully reflected in the scope of the inspection report. Provide constructive feedback to the Inspection Technicians on the quality of their reports to continuously develop and improve competence, and report quality and accuracy. ·Inspection – Carry out inspections and compile detailed inspection reports to the condition of equipment in accordance with the Written Scheme of Examinations. Provide adhoc inspection support for emerging issues, and non-routine inspections
The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of inspection and non-destructive testing methods as applied in the Oil and Gas processes. You will have the ability to maintain acceptable standards, provide timely feedback and guidance on problems or issues identified.As the Offshore Inspection Engineer you will ideally have an engineering background to HNC standard/ have at least UT 3.1/3.2 and MPI Inspection discipline, as well as previous experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent. You will have good communication skills, both verbally and written, along with good supervision and management skills are essential.
