Apprenticeships are a practical alternative to college or sixth form and enable you to 'earn while you learn', gain valuable experience in your chosen sector and develop personal and social skills.

The Apprenticeship
Training will take place one day a week at LEMA Engineering Academy in Dudley, DY2 9AP. You will spend 4 days a week working as an apprentice at 5th Dimension Tooling LTD.

You will be working with skilled engineers on pattern and tool making. Duties could include:

-Producing tools such as jigs, dies and moulds.

-Using cutting and shaping tools such as lathes, presses and cutting machines.

-Carrying out basic machine maintenance.

-Following engineering drawings.

-Working to client specifications and job sheets.

-General workshop duties.

-Using precision measuring instruments like micrometers and gauges.


You’ll need:

-5 GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and English.

-Practical person.

-Good attention to detail.

-Ability to read engineering drawings so good attention to detail.

-You will need to be very reliable.

-Excellent time keeping and attendance.

-Good Maths, IT and technical skills.

-16-18 year olds.
