As a Head of Project Engineering – Route Wide at HS2 you will manage and lead the engineering and project development of all schemes for the route wide programme so they comply with the Programme Requirements Specification (PRS), relevant standards and regulatory obligations, and are ultimately capable of acceptance onto the HS2 network.

About the role:

Manage and lead route wide engineering and, where applicable, project development activities so that they result in designs that are affordable and meet Programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and qualityProvide professional functional leadership for engineering within the route wide team in accordance with the specifications, requirements and policies established by the Lead Discipline EngineersDevelop and manage the area team structure and processes to deliver and review engineering outputs to support the programme schedule, budget and quality requirementsManage and lead the appropriate validation and verification of engineering activity for the route wide teamProvide technical leadership to enable the area Programme Director Phase One to successfully deliver the area programme on time, on cost, on quality and to all safety standardsManage and lead the assurance and compliance approval process for the route wide delivery programmeManage and lead the inspection and testing processes supporting the handover process in partnership with the area Programme Director Phase OneAbout You:

Chartered Engineer with extensive experience on large complex major projects/ programmes within the railway industry or other complex infrastructure delivery programmesUniversity engineering degreeMembership of an appropriate professional institutionExperience of leading major railway systems engineering design and delivery works packagesRailway system construction management and design management competenciesLine Management track recordThe successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong technical leadership skills understanding both the needs of pragmatic delivery cost and schedule targets as well as the need to deliver integrated engineering solutions that will work on the day and meet all the functional requirements.
