Assistant Head Teacher needed from September 2017 on a permanent basis, taking a lead on whole school SEN
ASSISTANT HEAD TEACHER: SEN - REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2017
PAY RANGE: LEADERSHIP SCALE 5-9
Eastfield is a 'GOOD SCHOOL' - Ofsted January 2013
The Governors of Eastfield Primary School are looking to appoint an Assistant Head Teacher, to lead on SEN and be part of our Senior Leadership Team, on a full time basis from September 2017.
Eastfield Primary is a rapidly expanding school for children aged between 5-11 years old, which is situated close to Wolverhampton City Centre in the East Park Ward. Our core values at Eastfield Primary, are Pride, Opportunity, Care, Diversity, Respect and Resilience and our most recent Ofsted report, said that 'the school is a calm and positive place in which the pupils learn...pupils show respect for each other and for their teachers...pupils are proud of their school...'.
This is an exciting opportunity for an existing Assistant Head, or a SENCo looking to step into this role, where you will be responsible for ensuring that all pupils with SEN (learning needs or behaviour, emotional and social needs), receive the support and guidance that they need to reach their potential and you will take lead responsibility for Looked After Children within school, ensuring that personal, emotional and academic needs are prioritised by providing strategic leadership across the school as the Designated Teacher.
It is essential that you either hold a valid SENCo qualification (or are committed to working towards completing the qualification subsequently on appointment), as you will organise and conduct SEN half termly review meetings, (including EHA as lead professional if necessary), where appropriate with parents and carers to ensure positive outcomes for all parties. Your job will be to attend all SEN/EHCP annual reviews with parents and other agencies, strengthen partnership and community working, enhancing partnerships with parents and pupils to ensure that their views are considered and acted upon appropriately and to promote positive relationships and work with colleagues in other schools including The City Action Zone and ConnectEd Learning Community 1. You will hold a teaching commitment each morning, where you will work with groups of SEN children, from across the school and will provide class cover if and when needed.
Please note that we are working with our recruitment partner, Hays Education and all applications will be managed through them. Please call Sarah Syrda on or email for a detailed job description and person specification, an application form, for further information or to arrange a viewing of the school. Please also take a look at our website http:// to get a better understanding of our school. Closing date: Monday 27 March 2017, 12pm midday
Shortlisting date: Tuesday 28 March 2017
Interview date: Wednesday 05 April 2017
Interviews will be in the format of a prepared interview question and a panel interview with our Governing Body.
We look forward to meeting you and receiving your application.
This is a senior post within the school's staffing structure. It may be modified by the Head Teacher, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title. Eastfield Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share in this commitment. Due the nature of this job, it will be necessary for an Enhanced criminal record Disclosure to be undertaken (DBS). Therefore, it is essential in making your application you disclose whether you have any pending charges, convictions, bind-overs or cautions and, if so, for which offences, This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders 1974 (Exceptions) (Amendments) Order 1986. Therefore, applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are 'spent' under the provision of the Act, and, in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the school. The fact that a pending charge, conviction, bind-over or caution has been recorded against you will not necessarily debar you from consideration for this appointment.
Refer a friend incentive - £250 reward available If you are aware of someone that may be suitable for the above vacancy, then simply ask them to call or email Sarah Syrda (same contact details as above).
