Job Description

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic engineers who can strengthen our design teams serving a wide range of industrial sectors. You will join one of our established and growing mechanical design teams who specialise in delivering bespoke design solutions for our clients.

You should be able to apply creative design skills to large, small and complex tasks in a consultancy environment. Typical projects would involve the design of mechanical handling systems, unique or early stage products, special purpose equipment, proof of principle prototypes and bespoke test rigs for plant or facilities.

The job involves taking responsibility for all aspects of design projects from initial scoping of the work and conceptual design to delivery of completed substantiated designs and then supporting these through manufacture and commissioning. The opportunity to undertake technical and commercial management or design based projects will also be available.

You will have contact with clients throughout a project, typically defining work scope, preparing proposals, holding technical meetings, preparing and delivering presentations, attending design reviews and producing technical reports.

Requirements

You will be able to demonstrate exceptional technical and design skills and the ability to apply these across a range of industries.

A good understanding of the majority of the disciplines listed below will be required.

Ability or experience and the application of the generic and client specific design process' from concept through to detail design and manufacture support

Proficient in 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX, but also others.

Producing design justification through the use of analytical skills (hand calculations and/or FEA)

Report writing and communication skills

Experience in or knowledge of the following would be an advantage:

Nuclear power generation systems and equipment

Bespoke equipment design

Test facility design (static or rotating rigs),

Gas turbine engine or test facility design

Defence domain

Experience or confidence of direct liaison with customers is essential and the right candidate will have a good degree in an engineering discipline or relevant industrial experience.

Where required, training will be given in relevant design and analytical tools.
