Platform Software Engineer (AWS, APIs, Messaging technology)

Our client, a Fintech based in London, require a Platform Software Engineer; this is working in a truly Agile and collaborative environment. You'll be working closely with Developers and different areas of the business in order to build their internal platform for their next generation of products. It is also a highly regulated environment so experience with a similar background, ideally within Financial Services would suit.

Working closely with Developers across the company, and Infrastructure Engineers, you will be exposed to a range of new technologies and tools. Other technologies we use include: Consul, InfluxDB, AWS RDS, NServiceBus, C#, AngularJS.

Our client, pride themselves on an excellent working culture, with 10% of your time allocated to 'innovation' where you can work with new technologies of your choice to create your own inhouse projects. There is also a training budget allocated to each team allowing for employees to take up certifications or to attend relevant seminars.


Our client work in a heavily service-oriented environment, you'll be creating new technical componentry, technical services, shared application services, libraries and tools used in new and existing products by teams across the company. Platform is at the forefront of new technology introduction, leveraging and extending new DevOps capabilities in automation (AWS, Ansible, Terraform). This is by using fast CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Appveyor, Octopus), developing new messaging capabilities and APIs (RabbitMQ, WebAPI, REST, Swagger), and creating new application services used by other teams across the company to build products for our customers.

Skills & Experience
  • Experience in the design and development of highly-available systems.
  • Track record of designing and delivering software using SOLID principles.
  • Comfortable working on Functional and Non-Functional requirements and product and technical component development.
  • Experienced working on a cloud platform; ideally AWS but not essential
  • Practical knowledge of distributed systems, SOA and microservices architecture would be ideal.
  • Experience or exposure to modern messaging technology & patterns: RabbitMQ, pubsub, etc.
  • Proficient in agile software development, including CI/CD and TDD.
  • Past-experience developing frameworks and libraries used by other developers and creating self-documented APIs (e.g., Swagger) would be a strong asset.

Nice to haves
  • We are a C# shop so experience in Windows technology an advantage - we heavily use opensource/Linux based technology when best in breed.
  • Ideally experienced in working with remote or geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience or exposure to working with Big Data technologies
