Role Profile Retail Manager EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP THE CHARITY’S PRESCENCE IN OUR BRAND NEW SHOP ON FAIRFORD HIGH STREET DUE TO OPEN MARCH/APRIL 2018 Aims Main purpose of job To work with the retail team achieve agreed sales and profit targets whilst minimising costs and maintaining a strong presence in the high street to benefit the charity The post-holder will have a cheerful, confident and friendly approach. You will have good communication and organisational skills with a genuine desire to provide an excellent service to all shop users. You will have a keen eye for detail as the handling of cash and maintenance of systems forms a key part of this role. This role is broad based and you will be expected to be able to manage several different tasks simultaneously and actively contribute to the smooth functioning of the shop You will show a commitment to the aims of CDCH and possess a willingness and ability to learn and follow direction. Key activities Meet agreed sales and profit targets Achieve agreed sales targets and strive to improve to set and achieve higher personal targets on an ongoing basis Ensure that all staff and volunteers have targets to meet within the overall shop target and that they achieve these Maximise profit through effective cost control and make informed management decisions to ensure shop performance Ensure that effective systems are in place to achieve the agreed processing targets in order to maintain shop density levels Maintain and develop standards of merchandising and of service delivery · Set and maintain a high standard of merchandising and display, both windows and in store · Ensure that goods in the shop are priced consistently and to an optimum price · Ensure that stock is efficiently sorted and prepared for sale and that all backstage areas are properly organised · Ensure best use of space and cleanliness/tidiness in all stock areas. · Minimise stock loss of goods and carry out stock takes when required · Ensure stock rotation and assess unsold stock for transfer to another Branch shop or disposal · Ensure that a high level of customer service is maintained in the shop · Build relationships with the local community to raise awareness of the shop as a quality shopping experience, using the media where appropriate · Develop and initiate plans for increasing levels of good quality donations Volunteers · Recruit and train volunteers and provide training and ongoing support to ensure that they are able to carry out their roles to the required standards · Ensure that the shop is adequately staffed (volunteers and paid staff) at all times during the agreed opening times · Motivate volunteers to achieve the shop’s full potential · Effectively communicate relevant information on charity’s standards and procedures to volunteers. Financial procedures · Comply with the charity’s financial and administrative procedures within agreed timescales · Accurately input shop data, using modern technology, and ensure that all volunteers and staff use similar procedures and processes · Ensure that all volunteers and paid staff follow financial procedures · Ensure that all donations/stock are accounted for and that all income, takings and gift Aid monies are correctly recorded and banked · Take steps to minimise theft/losses of goods from the shop. · Ensure the safe and secure handling of money and security of the premises and stock at all times. Buildings Management · Ensure the shop meets standards required by Health & Safety, DDA, Trading Standards and fire Regulations legislation · Ensure high standards of cleanliness in all areas of the shop premises · Ensure that decoration, fixtures and fittings are adequate for the purpose of the shop and staff/volunteer usage · Identify repairs/renovations which may be needed, ensure that they are remedied if possible or if expenditure is required, report thereon in a timely fashion to the Retail Operations Manager. Other shops · Provide support to the other shops within the charity if requested, including providing cover · Work as part of the Retail team to assist with new shop openings Accountable to: CEO Supervised by: Retail Operations Manager Hours: 37.5 hours per week flexible Monday to Sunday based on a 7.5 hour day with a half hour unpaid lunch break. Salary - £16,906 per annum The post is entitled to 28 days paid holiday leave per annum (including public holidays).
