Making initial judgements on potential safety implications of events and material state changes that have occurred on in-service submarines and provide authoritative advice to the MoD

Carrying out safety assessments for in-service design changes, supporting hazard reviews and hazard log upkeep, whilst advising on key hazard certification

Interfacing with the Safety and Engineering expertise across BAE Systems and with other key stakeholders (both industrial partners and MoD customer)

Providing progress and awareness briefings to the duty holder (UK MoD) representatives

Providing Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) support to safety committees, working groups and assessment Groups

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Demonstrable experience within Product Safety OR an Engineer with demonstrable submarine domain knowledge and experience (e.g. Royal Navy Operator/ Maintainer)

Desirable:

Previous experience working within the maritime/ submarine/ MoD environment and the safety methodology within those industries

SSMO qualified

Experience of hazard identification, risk analysis and safety case management

What we're looking for in you:

You must have excellent interpersonal skills, alongside resilience and confidence when articulating technical information or advice to the customer. You must also have the ability to use your initiative to resolve engineering issues.
