Would you like to play a key role in the test and commissioning for electrical weapon systems across our various advanced submarine platforms? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be working within the Weapons Test Section (WTS), carrying out testing, commissioning, trials and setting to work of electrical weapon systems and equipment.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a varied and exciting role, offering exposure to develop knowledge across a range of state-of-the-art defence equipment and technologies.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) will involve:
Carrying out routine work with no supervision and complex tasks under minimal supervision
Being responsible for the commissioning, trials, operation & setting to work of systems/equipment as appropriate with the electrical WTS
Being responsible for the maintenance of electrical weapons systems
Providing a support service to Boat Builds, Combat Systems, MoD and commercial customers as appropriate
Being responsible for authoring test forms and documentation needed for the overall sign off of the electrical weapons system
Representing the company on contractors sea trials and other outworking requirements including guarantee periods as applicable
Liaising with appropriate areas internally and externally to ensure safe and efficient operations
Having occasional involvement in control of sub-contractors which could involve input into risk assessments, method statements, security arrangements and monitoring of work
Your skills and qualifications:
Experience in the build, installation and setting to work of electrical systems
Experience of using electrical test equipment, including multi-meters, megger or fibre optic test equipment
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
Experience of using and editing test documentation
Previous knowledge of weapon systems
Experience of one of the following: sonar, navigation or external communication systems for either a commissioning, operator user or maintainer
HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
