For my client based in central Edinburgh I have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Solutions Architect to join the Group Technology Change Team. The purpose of this role is to improve the effectives and efficiency of the Group through ensuring the right Group wide strategies and architectures are defined and appropriate solution designs developed. This role offers an excellent opportunity to help shape and define architecture within a growing change function. Responsibilities: To lead the end to end solution design for major / complex multipart programmes. This will be in line with team purpose, and ensure that a Group-wide consideration is taken at all times, whilst recognising that individual business units may require a very specific solution. To be the recognised lead for the strategy for specified solution domains for the group, ensuring leadership is provided to executive committees/business leaders and programmes for those domains. To ensure that existing strategic technology is fully exploited before further investment is recommended. Where further investment is recommended ensuring that it will work in harmony with existing investments whilst supporting the business in new ventures and opportunities. To be responsible for ensuring designs adhere to the strategic design governance framework. To provide mentoring, coaching and support for other members of the function in order to improve and extend the Solution Architecture capability in line with the Architecture Target Operating Model. Skills, Qualifications & Experience: Excellent Solution Architecture understanding and skills Experience of multiple solution architecture/technology domains Strong and demonstrable knowledge of architecture frameworks, trends and initiatives Proven track record of leading end to end solution architecture and design for complex, cross group programmes which are cost-effective, innovative, scalable and maintainable Strong knowledge of package-based solutions/enterprise application integrations Strong knowledge of one or more common application technology stacks (e.g. Microsoft .NET application technology stack) Practical experience of service-oriented architectural patterns, including enterprise service bus models Strong understanding of technology trends Knowledge of infrastructure / applications technologies Contacts with and experience of close working with third party authorities and suppliers
