Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants must: ***Have 6+ months previous experience working within SEN ***Must have a current DBS Children disclosure within 3 years of issue **Be able to travel to Islington and be there for 8:30am **£60-85 per day, dependant on experience **Be proactive, show initiative at all times and have a firm but fair approach **PECS/Makaton/BSL/Maybo/Team Teach or some form of restraint experience is preferred The School - Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant The school is roughly a 10 minute walk from several stations, there are also several buses you can get. They have almost 150 students, aged 2-16, within the school. All of the pupils either have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or a Statement of Special Educational Needs. The school has exceptional facilities and grounds and a positive, tailored approach to maximise students learning potential. They have a fantastic team who can provide excellent training and support, regardless of whether you are employed on a permanent or temporary basis. The Role - Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant This Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role is within a brilliant SEN school that I have the pleasure of working closely with. The school are looking to recruit an individual with a genuine passion for working with SEN children. The role is ideally situated for someone who has a Psychology background and is interested in working with Special Needs children as well as adding value to the SEN team at the school with new ideas and creativity. Having a caring and patient approach towards the children is essential as you are required to make them feel comfortable and gain a connection with you. If you have your sights set on becoming a Speech Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Educational Psychologist or anything in that field then this role is perfect for you. The role would require the candidate to be comfortable dealing with personal care, including toileting and feeding and also with restraining students. As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant you would be supporting the emotional, social and academic development of the students you work with to optimize learning and maximise comfort.
