Athwal Resourcing is currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant for a business based in Dudley. The business is going through some major changes and has now created the new role to look after the accounts for a number of UK and European subsidiaries. The role requires a technical sound account that is self-motivated and resilient and able to provide finance support in a busy and high pressured office environment. The role is key and will assist the Finance Controller in the preparation of the month end accounts for the subsidiaries, reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts and assist in providing other adhoc information to key stakeholders within the company.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Management Accounts: Assisting in the preparation and posting of month end journals including, prepayments and accruals for multiple companies;
  • Balance Sheet Control: Reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts;
  • Group Reporting : Preparation and checking of month end reports and uploading trial balance into Hyperion; Doing specifications in Hyperion; and doing necessary journals in Hyperion;
  • Calculate required R&D amortisation in line with IFRS;
  • Assist in external reporting: Intrastat, Vat returns, EC sales lists;
  • Cash Flow: Liaise with AR/AP supervisors to produce weekly cashflow for multiple subsidiaries;
  • Ensure FX revaluations are done across all Subsidiaries (Debtors, Creditors, Bank accounts) and FX revaluation of Loan Accounts;
  • Fixed Asset Postings and reconcile the control account for Fixed Assets;
  • Develop KPI's that are appropriate for a share service center;
  • Detailed review of monthly financial statements for deviations or infrequent transactions;
  • Assist with yearend reporting and with auditors across multiple companies;
  • Dealing with adhoc queries.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Finalist or qualified ACCA/CIMA or QBE;
  • Must have a sound understanding of credits and debits, processing journals and assisting in preparation of accounts;
  • Understanding of consolidated accounts would be a key advantage;
  • Have at least 3 years' previous experience in a busy finance environment ideally, from a shared service or from a multi-site medium to large company with subsidiaries;
  • Experience of working in working in multi- currency transactions within a fast paced, complex manufacturing business environment;
  • Have extensive analytical skills and advanced Excel (Vlookups, Pivot Tables);
  • Have experience using an ERP accounts package;
  • Familiar with working to deadlines;
  • High level of numeracy , accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Focused and results driven to resolve queries;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Is proactive and able to self-manage workflow and is a team player.
