Secondary schools in North Somerset are great. 7 out of 10 (that's 70%, maths fans) are good or outstanding, and ITN Mark Education is supporting one of the really good ones in its search for a maths teacher to start at Easter.
You'll be thinking: "I teach maths, it's a shortage subject, I'm in demand! Why should I apply for this?" - all valid points. The school is high performing, gets great results every year, student behaviour is excellent, and the marking policy (you can't escape marking) is designed to work for teachers, not the other way around. You'd also be looking at a really easy commute from Bristol or Weston, even on public transport.
Teaching is a bit easier when you know you're supported by parents. It means that if you ever needed to call home because little Johnny doesn't concentrate and isn't going to get the grade he should, parents will usually be on board and ready to back you up. The school engages par
ents strategically over the course of the year with maths-specific subject evenings, ensuring that the maths department is supported from home as well as from school.
The school is looking for someone to teach maths up to KS5 full time, and the department is in good shape so they are happy to put NQTs through induction if they need it.
